Personal photography project for 2025 | Taking a photo a day in April 2025
London & Hertfordshire photographer
Three months into the 365 project, and the habit of taking a photo a day is starting to feel more natural, and it's also so satisfying to see the gallery grow. Time is flying, so I haven't had a chance to reflect on the photos I've taken, but maybe I'll leave that until the quiet season now!
On a scale of 0-10 (with 0 being "easy" and 10 being "very challenging"):
March's difficulty rating: 5/10
Reflections:
- March felt lighter, in every sense. The shift in season made such a difference. SUN, BLOSSOM, and WARMTH, LIGHT AND SHADOWS!
- The nicer weather got me out of the house more, which has naturally led to more opportunities and inspiration to create, rather than having to force it on grey, uninspiring days.
- It helped that March was busy for me, so more client work in the mix too.
- 83% of photos in March were taken with my Canon R6.
Here's to April - Easter holidays, an exciting family trip to Sicily and test photos from my new lens!

Today I was taking photos at the local school, and as I was leaving, I spotted a row of these bug hotels. The story is in the details.

My mum has just taken up painting. The theme for her art class this week was flowers, so she chose to paint one of the photos I took in March (which I have shared for reference). This is a work in progress, but excited to see it when it's finished.

Today was the first Girls LOVE squash session at the local squash club. It was an honour to photograph this, and witness the passion and encouragement of girls in the sport.

117/365 | Sunday 27th April 2025
Was invited by my lovely friend Lisa, who is also a photographer, to a new studio opening in South West London.

116/365 | Saturday 26th April 2025
The results of my daughter's scrunchie making session. She wanted me to take some photos so she could use them to sell the scrunchies.

115/365 | Friday 25th April 2025
My first wedding of 2025. This lovely couple got married at Chelsea Old town hall. I love a London Town Hall wedding. Here's one of the photos that I shared as a sneak peek, and I can't wait to go through the rest of the images.

Apple blossom! Yay- I think that means we will get apples this year?

113/365 | Wednesday 23rd April 2025
I rented a lens that I have lusted after for years. Excited to test it out, and hopefully I can get over the fact that it is HUGE and SO HEAVY! Here it is next to my mug of tea (for reference).

112/365 | Tuesday 22nd April 2025
Trying to photograph my Easter flowers in a slightly more interesting (that's debatable!) way.

111/365 | Monday 21st April 2025
Excellent chilled way to spend a bank holiday Monday! My daughter wants to start making and selling scrunchies, so here she is building up her stock.

110/365 | Sunday 20th April 2025
Easter Scenes.

Bye Bye Etna.

108/365 | Friday 18th April 2025
Up Etna (can you tell how much we loved it here)

107/365 | Thursday 17th April 2025
A rainy one today, but we welcomed a slower day after a few early starts.

106/365 | Wednesday 16th April 2025
We took a boat to see Stromboli, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

105/365 | Tuesday 15th April 2025
Playing in the pool, with Etna in the background.

104/365 | Monday 14th April 2025
Another day, another trip to Etna. Today we walked up to a very steep crater (one that was formed from an eruption in 2001). Thought I'd ask one of my family to take a photo of me (as evidence that I was on the holiday!) and obviously this beauty is what was captured! Me slipping....

103/365 | Sunday 13th April 2025
Day trip to Syracuse today, birthplace of Archimedes. We were walking around Ortigia and saw a little white egret (just like the one we often see in Oak Hill Park). I waited for it to take off and caught this shot. Love the shape against the beautiful colour of the water.

102/365 | Saturday 12th April 2025
My husband regularly does our local park run, so when he saw that the Etna park run was only a 25mins drive, we had to go and check it out. Such a wonderfully well organised event who were extremely welcoming to all the tourists!

101/365 | Friday 11th April 2025
Went to visit Taormina today. Absolutely stunning views from the hilltop town.

100/365 | Thursday 10th April 2025
DAY 100! Can't actually believe I've made it to day 100. I haven't managed to take AND upload the photo daily as I hoped, but I am taking the photo on the day itself. The regular photo taking is definitely helping me to experiment with different techniques and try to create as interesting a photo as I can each day.
Today's is from a walk we did in Bianca Villa, with Etna casually spotted in the background, and local Sicilians whizzing by on their mopeds going about their daily business.

99/365 | Wednesday 9th April 2025
It's ME! Walking on Etna's smaller craters. The most incredible view. (The background, not me!)

98/365 | Tuesday 8th April 2025
Travel day! May have bribed my child for the window seat for 5 mins so I could take a photo of The Alps!

97/365 | Monday 7th April 2025
The magnolia might be in full bloom, but the daffs are on their way out.

96/365 | Sunday 6th April 2025
Hosted an Easter Party today. My brother kindly made the cake and it's incredible. Complete with glasses-wearing chicks for my youngest.

95/365 | Saturday 5th April 2025
Today we are practising with the new lens in the garden!

94/365 | Friday 4th April 2025
May have upgraded my 50mm to a pro lens! And she is BEAUTIFUL. Can't wait to get out and take more photos with this beauty. Here's the nearest thing to me to practise on today.

93/365 | Thursday 3rd April 2025
Today I photographed adult squash session at the local club. The brief was "non corporate and story telling". This is exactly the kind of photography I love to do.

92/365 | Wednesday 2nd April 2025
Confetti or blossom?

91/365 | Tuesday 1st April 2025
Short lunch time walk to capture the magic of everyone's favourite Magnolias.
