A Love Letter

FROM A LoNDON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

There’s something so chic about a London Town Hall wedding. It’s no surprise that so many couples and celebrities fly in from around the world to get married here. The mix of history and everyday city life, against a backdrop of such iconic architecture, gives every moment a touch of elegance. Even the smallest ceremony feels full of atmosphere and character.

Elegance
From the timeless classic vibes of Marylebone, to the understated cool of Islington, no two ceremonies ever feel alike. Every Town Hall makes you feel completely looked after and they really do have it down to a fine art (yes, they do use walkie-talkies at Marylebone Town Hall).
The town halls are decorated so beautifully, I mean, when would you ever be able to just have access to the most incredible silk-flower arch installed by FleurdelaCouture. This is why the blue door at Chelsea Old Town hall is so iconic, and somehow more beautiful every time I see it. Marylebone also has incredible fresh florals in the ceremony rooms, which means one less thing to plan and more time to focus on the details that make the day feel like you.

Details
Town Hall weddings give you the freedom to do things your way. The intimacy of the ceremony rooms makes it easy to skip traditions if you want, write your own vows, have the children do the readings, or dog as the ring bearer. It’s these unique details that make the day truly yours.

Just Married
There’s nothing quite like the buzz of that just-married feeling, stepping out onto the steps of Chelsea Old Town Hall for the confetti throw, to cheers and shouts of congratulations from the public. The atmosphere is PURE JOY, even for those who usually shy away from being the center of attention.

Afterwards, you are spoilt for choice for couple portraits. The backdrop of London becomes part of your story, the quiet side streets with soft light, hidden corners that feel private, and the stretches of Victorian architecture. And if it’s the zebra crossing shot in Chelsea that you are after, I will plan it as part of our route after the ceremony.

And when it’s time to celebrate, the options are endless. You can head to a local bar for a low-key drink with family, or go all out with a private dining room or elegant reception nearby.

My approach
My approach is calm but intentional. I plan carefully so you can move through the day without rushing. I’ll guide you gently when it helps the light or composition, but otherwise, I step back. The beauty often happens in between: a quiet breath before you walk in, a shared glance, a burst of laughter that catches you off guard. I want to document those moments with honest, thoughtful images that tell your story as it truly felt.

Memories
London Town Hall weddings are a perfect blend of beauty and ease. I love how they manage to be unpretentious, but yet stylish and full of warmth at the same time. They remind me what weddings are really about: connection, celebration, and a little bit of everyday magic.
If you are getting married, or thinking about getting married, at one of the London Town Halls, I'd love to hear from you.
