I’ve recently photographed a newborn session at home in Hampstead, London, and the photos turned out so beautifully that I just had to share a bit about my approach to newborn photography. I’d love to give you a glimpse of how these sessions work and why they’re such a relaxed, special experience for you and your family.
What to Expect from a Newborn Session
Newborn sessions with me are calm, unhurried, and flexible, usually lasting between 90 minutes and 2 hours. I want everyone to feel completely at ease, so we go at your pace. Don’t worry if you need to take a break for feeding the baby, a cuddle, or a quick change, all these little moments are part of the magic we’re capturing. I love documenting these everyday routines; they add so much depth and realness to your memories.
My Approach: Real Moments in Real Spaces
My style is all about keeping things natural and candid, leaning into a lifestyle approach that captures your family just as you are. I’m not into the traditional studio setup with posed shots. Instead, I love the character and cosiness of your home—every little corner, every bit of “baby chaos”. These details are very much part of the story, and they make the photos feel timeless and personal. On the shoot, I look out for those gorgeous little spots in your home that showcase the unique charm of this new chapter in your lives.
Timing Your Session
The best time for a newborn session is typically when your baby is between 5 and 12 days old, while they’re still so curled up and sleepy. That said, I totally understand that life with a newborn can be a bit unpredictable. We can pencil in a date around a week after your due date and adjust as needed once your little one arrives.
After Your Session
After our session, I’ll go through the photos and carefully select and edit a collection that captures your baby’s earliest days beautifully. You’ll get access to a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share the photos however you like. I say you'll receive at least 25 photos, though you’ll likely get more because I can’t help myself when it comes to capturing all the little details and sweet moments!
